David Elias, Ph.D.

Co-Founder & Director of Curriculum and Assessment

Along with Dr. Howard Rossman, Dr. Elias founded the Civic Leadership Foundation in 2008 to provide young people with an outlet for turning their passion into purpose that affects change. In his role, he draws on more than 40 years of educational experience and research in crafting a curriculum that best serves young people and their development.

Throughout his career, Dr. Elias has taught at Stanford University School of Law, the University of California - Davis, Santa Clara University and Eastern Kentucky University. An accomplished author, Dr. Elias’ work has been published in journals such as Composition Chronicle, Research in the Teaching of English, and Kairos. He holds a Bachelors from the University of California, Berkeley, a Master’s from Rutgers University, and a Ph.D. from Stanford University.
