2026 Youth Project Showcase at Skinner North Classical School

Youth End of Year Project Presentations

This year, Civic Leadership Foundation had the opportunity to work with an incredible group of 7th grade students at Skinner North Classical School as they spent the school year exploring issues and ideas they genuinely care about and are passionate towards.

Students were encouraged to think about the world around them, reflect on what mattered to them personally, and turn those interests into projects focused on awareness, advocacy, and change. Throughout the year, students researched topics, asked difficult questions, collaborated with one another, and developed creative ways to share their project vision.

The range of passions and interests represented in these projects was inspiring. Some students focused on large social issues like homelessness and political corruption, while others explored environmental topics such as protecting wildflowers and saving the sturgeon population in Lake Michigan. Other groups chose to focus on issues closer to their everyday lives, including potholes in the community, supporting cats and local shelters, and understanding the growing impact of artificial intelligence.

What stood out most was the thoughtfulness behind every project. Students approached these topics with curiosity, empathy, and a real desire to better understand and address the challenges people in their communities face.

We are incredibly grateful to the students and staff at Skinner North for creating a space where creativity, leadership, and student voice can thrive!
